Under the supervision of the Vice President of Construction, the Project Manager takes charge of projects starting from the preliminary budget file. They handle calls for tenders, orders, and planning to prepare the file for construction. Subsequently, they oversee site management and project delivery. The role requires a high level of autonomy and strong leadership skills.

Role:

  • Take full responsibility for assigned projects.
  • Keep the Project Director informed of project progress, budget tracking, and any significant issues.
  • Distribute workload to the project coordinator.
  • Provide strong leadership to subcontractors and professionals during construction.
  • Ensure project progress and adherence to schedules.
  • Ensure budget compliance.
  • Generate payment requests within required deadlines.
  • Generate invoicing within required deadlines.
  • Manage construction teams.
  • Ensure control of labor and materials with the site superintendent.
  • Ensure adherence to budgets and schedules.
  • Advance project files.
  • Ensure project quality.
  • Manage the transition of completed projects to delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Create comprehensive construction schedules and disseminate them appropriately.
  • Coordinate internal and external work with sketches and other schematics.
  • Evaluate extra requests.
  • Submit credit requests.
  • Review budget estimates.
  • Review plans by professionals and coordinate directive issuances.
  • Start and oversee construction projects.
  • Ensure smooth progress of the construction site with the construction team.
  • Ensure compliance with CNESST regulations and reasonable diligence elements on-site with the collaboration of the safety officer and site superintendent.
  • Intervene at the site or with professionals to resolve specific cases.
  • Inform the project director about the progress and issues of assigned construction projects.
  • Visit construction sites periodically.
  • Lead coordination meetings with subcontractors weekly.

Qualifications for Potential Candidates:

Education: Technical diploma in architecture or civil engineering and/or a bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture
Required experience: 3 to 10 years in construction project management
Software proficiency: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), MS Project, Autocad, Build/Plangrid, etc.
